The Complete Original Script by Kelvin Rush
Step back to October 1975 with Superstars: The Musical, a heartwarming coming-of-age story celebrating friendship, determination and the courage to follow your dreams. Personally signed by British author, composer and playwright Kelvin Rush, this complete original script includes every scene and every song lyric from the musical.
Eleven-year-old Rudolf Ramsbottom and his best friend Piggy Bowles may be considered outsiders, but they share one extraordinary ambition – to write a hit song and appear on Top Of The Pops. When famous pop star MC Flash invites his fans to submit song lyrics for a nationwide competition, the boys believe their dream is finally within reach. With a little help from Rudolf’s mum, Mary, they pour their hearts into their entry, hoping fame is just around the corner.
Although disappointment follows when they fail to win the competition, a new opportunity soon arrives as they prepare to perform at the school Christmas concert. Along the way, Rudolf and Piggy must overcome bullying, self-doubt and the everyday challenges of growing up while refusing to let anyone stand in the way of their dreams.
As Rudolf experiences the excitement and heartbreak of first love with Mandy Grey, Superstars: The Musical beautifully captures the innocence, humour and emotion of childhood in 1970s Britain. Filled with memorable characters, uplifting songs and nostalgic charm, this inspiring musical reminds us that success isn’t measured by fame alone, but by friendship, resilience and believing in yourself.
A wonderful addition for musical theatre enthusiasts, script collectors and anyone who enjoys original British storytelling.
